21:00 Traxx

Witnessing Traxx manipulate music is a self-evident spiritual experience, one of illumination, truth, emotional depth and suspension of time. When he is at the controls, anything is possible.

Traxx is a self-described “Visionary Deknician Beyond Description”—operating beyond the parameters of conventional labels like DJ, producer, or even DJ/Producer – the last in a line of legends that includes Ron Hardy, Larry Levan, Jeff Mills, among others. When the Chicago legend is at the controls, the ghosts of Liaisons Dangereuses at the Hacienda, lost transmissions from Boccaccio or the Music Box, industrial machine 'kode' from waves foreign or domestic – anything is possible – all these come together to raise the room's musical temperature and awareness. Such is the power of jakbeat.

Traxx’s music is distinctive and highly emotional, and defies classification, inviting analysis and discussion. Like many in Chicago, Traxx was drawn into house music through the legendary WBMX radio shows and two trips to see Ron Hardy at the  legendary Music Box.

Describing his first experience with house, Traxx recalls "nothing could compare, things were being discovered.. this period stays with me because of the intense energy that was applied – it's a feeling, an emotion, a mental state of transcendental connection – a spiritual force with the higher being through the physical vessel of the body." he listens to it all without discrimination, pretension or elitism.

Tadd Mullinix, the legendary producer known as JTC or James T Cotton, Dabrye, and Charles Manier has said of Traxx: “The pinnacle of his art, whether he is DJing or producing, is his ability to seize the moment and make crucial changes only when they are necessary. His art is not just a 'back to basics' approach, but a refinement of styles that have been abandoned for music with slick transitions and needless ornamentation. This is Jakbeat in its rawest form."

Beyond regularly featuring at the world’s best clubs, festivals, concerts, and parties, Traxx was invited to perform the opening nights of the 1st US tour of the remaining members of Prince’s band The Revolution at Metro (June 2017) and also chosen by LCD Soundsystem to be their official opening dj for the album “American Dream” US Tour (October-December 2017)

Nation is Traxx’s own, a dance beyond dance label that embraces technology from the past and the future from Chicago and around the world. Through Nation, its sub label Kode, and now, recently launching Dirty Blends, Traxx has been innovating and defining the inimitable sound of jakbeat.

There is no one else who is doing or can do what he does.
Traxx is a true avant-garde artist of sound.
